On October 5, residents and citizens of Benue State will once again have the opportunity to elect new local government chairmen in their respective LGAs.
The state Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has officially declared Friday, October 4, 2024, as a work-free day in the state.
Now, voters in the state have the time to travel to their respective local government areas to cast their votes.
The announcement was made through a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, on Thursday in Makurdi.
This move also aims to allow for active participation by residents and citizens of Benue State in the local government election.
Kalu urged all citizens of the state to take advantage of the day to fulfill their civic responsibilities.

Governor Alia expressed confidence that with collective commitment and participation, the elections would be conducted smoothly and fairly.
He called on public and private sector organizations to support this initiative by allowing their employees the same opportunity.
In his statement, Alia also urged citizens to prioritize peaceful conduct and cooperation during the elections, reinforcing the need for unity among all parties involved.
