A commercial tricycle operator, Nnamdi Nnebe has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his brother’s wife at Umuokpu Awka in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Chidinma Ikeanyionwu, the media aide to the State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo, confirmed the incident in a statement
on Friday, November 15, 2024.
According to the statement, the incident occurred after a heated argument between the duo over some children playing in the tricycle.
“One Nnamdi Nnebe from Umuokpu Awka, is currently in police custody for stabbing his elder brother’s wife,” the statement read.
“In what started as a minor misunderstanding, Mrs Njideka Nnebe, the survivor of the knife attack stated that the culprit who parked his keke in their compound saw kids playing inside his tricycle but mistook one of the kids as her son.
“The survivor explained that after a minor exchange of words, the assailant went inside his apartment and brought a knife but because she defended with her hand, she got stabbed on her hand instead.

Reacting to the incident at the hospital during her visit to the survivor, Mrs. Obinabo assured that the ministry will follow-up on the case as the state government is now in-charge to give justice to the survivor.
