The Nigerian Air Force have reportedly killed civilians in an operation against bandits that happened on Tuesday.
According to Peoples Gazette, witnesses said the incident occurred in Rukubi, near the southern border with Benue in Doma Local Government Area.
47 people, mainly Fulani herdsmen, were reportedly killed and scores were evacuated to various hospitals in Nasarawa and Benue, witnesses said.
Nasarawa state Governor, Abdullahi Sule confirmed the attack on Wednesday afternoon, saying efforts are underway to resolve the crisis with the military.
A spokesman for the Nigerian military said the air raids in the area at about the same time were only targeted at bandits.

The attack has reportedly sparked confrontations between Benue authorities and the Fulani community between the two states.
About 27 bodies have been promptly buried in line with Islamic rites and about 50 bodies were seen by Peoples Gazette.
