At Geregu Power Plant in Kogi State, quiet preparations have replaced the usual turbine roar.
This week, NDPHC began a four-week maintenance exercise to improve efficiency and strengthen reliability.

Geregu Plant Prepares For Upgrade
To achieve this, the company partnered with Siemens Energy, the plant’s equipment manufacturer, for detailed inspections.
During her site visit, Managing Director and CEO Jennifer Adighije described the work as vital for dependable power.
Geregu operates three Siemens turbine units, which together generate 430 megawatts of electricity.
As part of the maintenance, the Siemens team performs minor inspections, alignment checks, and operational adjustments to ensure optimal performance.

Furthermore, NDPHC’s Executive Director of Generation, Abdullahi Kassim explained that the company allocated four weeks to accommodate potential unforeseen issues.
He confirmed that the turbines are in good condition and operate well within manufacturer tolerance limits.
