Tinubu Lauds Buhari For Recognising June 12, 1993 Election

President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu has praised President Muhammadu Buhari for honoring Chief M.K.O Abiola during his government in appreciation of the June 12, 1993 elections.

He characterised Buhari’s decision to honour Abiola as courageous, something that many people in the past avoided.

Pensioners make demand from Tinubu

According to Tinubu, Buhari’s action was a brave attempt to clear the air and heal festering wounds.

The President-elect spoke at at an event where he was conferred the Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (GCFR), which presidents of Nigeria hold.

“President Buhari, you have shown courage in taking difficult decisions that others avoided. One such decisions is to recognise the injustice of the annulment of the 1993 elections.

“Declaring June 12 as Democracy Day and bestowing the nation’s highest honour on Chief M.K.O Abiola.

“You went back in time, as far as anyone could, to correct the record and heal the festering wounds.

“The justice you delivered today takes on added significance because the people have placed their trust in us.

“Mr. President, you have done your part; now a big responsibility will fall on me.” Tinubu said.

Tinubu will be sworn in as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on May 29.
