The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar, has fired a direct shot at President Bola Tinubu, who recently earned himself the name ‘T-Pain’ on social media.

Atiku spoke in reaction to the recent increase in the price of Premium Motor Spirits (PMS), popularly known as petrol, by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC).

Things got ugly when the NNPC announced an increase in the pump price of fuel in Abuja, and in Lagos.

The increase in fuel had no doubt affected Nigerians with many taking to social media to air their frustration.

Haphazard Approach

Speaking on the development, Atiku asserted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is unconcerned about the hardship in the country.

In a post via X on Thursday, Atiku stated that the haphazard approach of the administration of President Tinubu to fuel subsidy management is the reason for the economic crisis in the country.

Atiku noted that Tinubu’s silence to the current challenge in the country is worrisome.

T-Pain

He said: “The haphazard and disingenuous approach of the current administration to fuel subsidy management has been the reason we are in this current economic crisis in the country.

“As things stand, there will be no let up in the escalating inflation rate, which is drowning the material well-being of Nigerians.
It is even more worrying that T-pain is undisturbed by the hardship in the country.”

T-pain is a play on the first letter of the president’s last name.

The hashtag has been trending on social media, presumably with inspiration from American rapper Faheem Najm, who goes by the stage name T-Pain.
