Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to assent to the Nigerian Peace Corps Establishment Act without delay.
Adeleke made the call during the passing out parade of the officers of the corps on Saturday in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State.
He said: “The act becoming law would ensure peace and unity in the country.
“The signing of the act into law would go a long way towards providing employment for a large number of unemployed youths”.

Represented by his aide, Ajisafe Toyese, the governor said: “The Nigerian Peace Corps would help to complement the tireless efforts of other security sister agencies towards maintaining peace across Nigeria.
“I call on the Nigerian Peace Corps to unite in forming a common front towards achieving the mandate upon which it is being established.
“The new officer cadets should show discipline and focus when discharging their various duties anywhere they might be posted to.”
Also, Dr Mustapha Abubakar, Commandant General of the Nigerian Peace Corps, charged the cadets to make time for personal development.
“I charge the new cadets to make time for personal development, which would go a long way in adding value to their services in the NPC,” he said.
