While some Nigerians and supporters of opposition parties are against the declaration of Bola Tinubu as Nigeria’s President-elect, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), are also staging counter rallies.
On Monday, a some APC supporters held a solidarity rally for the President-elect, in the United States of America (USA).
The rally was organised by the APC U.S.A chapter. It was held at Lafayette Park, South West Quadrant, Washington DC.
Free Mandate
The APC U.S.A National Youth Leader, Oyakhilome Bello, spoke at the venue.
According to him, the rally was to show the world that Tinubu was given a free mandate by Nigerians.
“The rally is to show solidarity for a mandate that was freely given to Tinubu at the polls by Nigerians.
“It is to let the world know that he is the winner of the election as declared by INEC, Nigeria’s electoral body.”
Counter Protest
Bello says that the rally would counter the protest by some members of the opposition parties.
Also, he expressed sadness that some dissatisfied individuals would go to the extent of calling for an Interim National Government.

“I find it hard to believe that some few individuals that are dissatisfied with the outcome of the election results will go to the extent of calling for an Interim National Government.”
“This is most unpatriotic and undemocratic behaviour,” he stressed.
Democracy
Bello wants the US President, Joe Biden, to defend Nigeria’s democracy from those calling for a temporary government or military takeover.
According to him, Nigeria’s nascent democracy has come a long way and no force of blackmail from the opposition camp should be allowed to abort it.

“We will defend the voice of the majority of Nigerian electorates.
“We have come too far to let some few selected people destroy what we have built over the decades,” Bello said.
Furthermore, the APC chieftain called on Nigerians to come together and work with Tinubu for the greater good of the country.
