The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, says the Buhari-led Government wants the safety of Nigerians and has spent some good money to acquire 10 firefighting trucks.

In fact, Nigerians are shocked to know that Buhari spent a whopping sum of ₦12 billion to acquire 10 firefighting trucks for various airports in Nigeria.

Sirika made the disclosure in a tweet via his official Twitter handle on Sunday.
He says safety has been the major focus of the Buhari-led government in the aviation sector.

The minister said that he commissioned the 10 firefighting trucks for the Federal Airports Authority (FAAN).
According to him, the agency had not bought firefighting trucks in 15 years.

He tweeted: “Just commissioned 10 Firefighting trucks, the total cost of over 12Bn Naira.
“More to come in due course. Safety has been the Buhari focus in Aviation since 2015. Hitherto, FAAN has not bought new trucks in 15 years.”
If the entire sum was spend on the trucks, a breakdown of the cost showed that each truck cost about 1.2 billion Naira.
From findings, a Crash Truck often seen at airports costs between $750,000 to $1.2 million.
Converted to Naira by the black market rate of 745 Naira to a dollar, each of the firetrucks would cost is 894,900,000 Million Naira. That is if they were bought at 1.2 million dollars.
