Nigerians are one step closer to finding out who the next president of the country would be.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has formally opened the 2023 presidential election collation centre at the International Conference Centre in Abuja.
INEC Chairman, Yakubu Mahmood, opened the collation centre. He said collation would officially resume by 6:00PM on Sunday.

“The collation centre is hereby declared open until the final announcement of the results of the 2023 presidential election,” he said.
Mr Mahmood set certain ground rules for the collation of election results.
The collation of presidential election results will be done at four levels — first at all the 8,889 wards, then at the 774 local government areas.
After that, the Resident Electoral Commissioners at the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory will submit the votes per candidate in Abuja.
The chairperson said the collation centre will be open all day and all night with short breaks.
Also, at intervals, where such need arises, the commission will hold press conference to brief the media and Nigerians. The press briefing will hold in a designated hall within the same premises.
Mr Mahmood advised political parties to only draw their figures from INEC.
According to him, collation from states will resume by 6:00PM when results from all states would have arrived.
