The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, is making in-roads in Rivers State. He is gaining more support in the state and this time it is coming from clerics.
On Tuesday reports spread that Tinubu has received the support of over 100 clerics in Rivers State.
The religious leaders who gathered under the umbrella of ‘Rivers Pastors Unite for Tinubu’ (RPUT) collectively expressed their support for the candidate.
Tinubu is the only candidate with the capacity to solve the myriad of challenges plaguing the country, says the RPUT.
The Coordinator of RPUT, Pastor Sunday Edimeh, reading their resolution, said none of the other candidates has shown support for the Christian community as much as Tinubu is doing.
Edimeh, the Founder of One Life Bible Church in Port Harcourt, said they were only supporting the APC presidential candidate.
He noted that the support does not extend to the governorship and other elections in Rivers State.
“None of the leading Presidential candidates has supported the Christian community as much as Bola Tinubu.
“He has sown only good seeds on the soil of the Christian community and such should never be dismissed.
“We call on fellow clergymen and women to stand with the truth at this time,” he said.
RPUT Speaks On Peter Obi
The RPUT took a jab at the only frontline Christian presidential candidate, Peter Obi of the Labour Party.
According to the clerics, it is more about how much he has done for the upliftment of the Christian community rather than claiming to be a Christian.

“We are aware that a Presidential candidate is playing up the Christian agenda.
But the pertinent question is before now, how has he uplifted the Christian community?”
The clerics noted that the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the APC does not pose a threat to Christians.
“The choice of a running mate does not in any way, pose a threat to the Christian community.
“Hence let us dissociate from the cold-hearted proclivities of political transition, which seek to orchestrate needless divisions based on religious grounds.

“Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has not presented any conduct to suggest his non-tolerance for the religious sentiments of all Nigerians,” he said.
Many notable persons and organisations have called out the APC candidate for choosing a Muslim running mate.
This support from clerics is coming days after Tinubu visited Rivers State and held a meeting with the governor of the state, Nyesom Wike.
