Former Big Brother Naija reality star and actor, Pere Egbi, has opened up about a tragic incident involving one of his close friends, who recently took his own life after suffering relentless online bullying.

The reality star made the revelation in an emotional post shared via his X handle on Monday.

“Cyberbullying Drove My Friend To Suicide” – Reality Star Pere Egbi

While he did not disclose whether the heartbreaking event occurred in Nigeria or the United States, where he is currently based, Pere expressed his grief over the loss.

He wrote:

I lost a friend today due to online bullying. Committed suicide. Smh. RIP champ. It is well.”

The revelation has since stirred conversations on social media.

Fans and mental health advocates stresses the dangers of cyberbullying and the urgent need for more awareness around mental health support.

This is not the first time Pere has courted headlines recently.

He previously sparked heated reactions after publicly stating that the South African film industry is far ahead of Nollywood in areas of filmmaking, storytelling, and work ethics.

According to him, Nigeria’s film industry still has “a lot of growing to do” in order to meet international standards.

Beyond reality TV fame, Pere has carved out a space for himself in the movie industry.

He has acted in and produced a number of Nollywood and international projects, including Gem of the Rain Forest, Pound of Flesh, and Blood Vessel.
