Following the shooting which led to the death of one Fatai Oladipupo, the Lagos State Police Command is currently investigating Police inspector, Okoro Charles over the development.
The Police inspector who is attached to Ikotun Division was apprehended on Tuesday, May 20, in connection with a shooting incident that happened along Obabiyi, Igando Road, Ikotun which led to the death Fatai Oladipupo.
The Spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, DSP Bala Elkana, confirmed the arrest in Lagos.
According to him, “The Inspector is subjected to internal disciplinary procedures, known as Orderly Room Trial at the State Provost Department and if found guilty, he will be handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department Yaba for prosecution in conventional Court.

“The investigation is ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the shooting incident. The Commissioner of Police condoles with the family and friends of the deceased and calls for calm. He assures them that Justice will prevail. Members of the public will be updated on the outcome of the investigation.”
In a related development, the Commissioner of Police Lagos State Command, CP Hakeem Odumosu has ordered the transfer of the case of the death of Sergeant Onalaja Onajide attached to Ilemba Hausa Division to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department.
It was learned that the case transfer was as a result of the reports received by the Command alleging that the Divisional Police Officer Ilemba Hausa, CSP Yahaya Mohammed Adeshina, of shot the Sergeant while dispersing crowds that gathered in front of the Station.
Elkana, explained that the DPO CSP, Yahaya Mohammed Adeshina, has been arrested and detained at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for investigation hinting that, “His rifle is retrieved for forensic examination. The Command has ordered that autopsy be carried out on the deceased person.”
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the fallen colleague and assured them that the Command will stand with them in this moment of grief and ensure that justice prevails.
