Jennifer Lopez dazzled audiences at the Sundance Film Festival with her captivating performance in the musical adaptation of “Kiss of the Spider Woman”.
Lopez stars as Ingrid Luna in the film, which premiered to a standing ovation at Park City’s Eccles Theatre.
Jennifer Lopez revealed that starring in the film had fulfilled a lifelong dream, inspired by her childhood fascination with movie musicals like “West Side Story”.
She thanked director Bill Condon for making her dream come true, and Condon shared his own passion for the project, which he had been thinking about for years.
The film tells the story of Luis Molina, a queer window dresser played by Tonatiuh, who is serving time in an Argentinian prison during the “Dirty War”.
To escape the harsh realities of his imprisonment, Molina regales his cellmate, Valentin Arregui, with stories about his favorite screen diva, Ingrid Luna, played by Lopez.
Several studio and streaming executives attended the film’s premiere, which is currently seeking distribution. Tonatiuh joined Lopez and Condon on stage.
As the audience applauded, Lopez exchanged words of affection with a fan who shouted “I love you, J.Lo!”, yelling back “I love you, too!”
