Nigerian rapper and actor, Falz, has addressed the controversy involving social media personality VeryDarkMan.
VeryDarkMan made serious allegations against him and his father, prominent lawyer Femi Falana.
In a recent appearance on the Afrobeat podcast, Falz responded to claims that he and his father manipulated the justice system and bribed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Also, the controversy began on September 24, 2024, when VeryDarkMan shared a viral audio clip in which a voice like Bobrisky’s claimed to have bribed officials to dismiss money laundering charges against him.
In that voice message, Bobrisky (Idris Okuneye) further alleged that Falz and his father assisted in these actions, sparking widespread criticism of Falz.
However, the rapper quickly issued a 24-hour ultimatum to VeryDarkMan.
Also, he demanded a retraction of his statements.
During the podcast, Falz expressed his anger over the false accusations.
He said: “One day, [VeryDarkMan] decided to make direct allegations, insinuating that my dad and I conspired to manipulate justice and bribe the EFCC.
“He even claimed I did this because of a supposed homosexual relationship with Bobrisky. How would anyone feel hearing such baseless and harmful accusations?“.
Falz’s Response
Falz and his father responded by taking legal action.
On October 14, 2024, the Lagos State High Court ordered VeryDarkMan to remove all defamatory content related to the Falanas from his social media platforms.
Also, the court ordered an apology from VeryDarkMan.
Speaking about the case, Falz explained: “We took him to court for defamation of character because that’s exactly what this is.
“The court has instructed him to take down the defamatory videos and stop any further defamatory remarks while the case continues”.
He added that while there was the option to pursue criminal charges.

He chose not to.
“He could’ve been arrested, but I didn’t go down that road. Now they’re trying to frame it as though my family and I are abusing power. I’m not someone who looks for trouble,” Falz clarified.
