The Chelsea icon will join Amazon Prime’s Champions League coverage this season as the streaming service prepares to broadcast the European competition for the first time.

However, Lampard will feature as a pundit alongside AC Milan legend Clarence Seedorf, who won the competition with three different clubs.

Amazon Prime unveiled their line-up for the Champions League on Monday.

Gabby Logan will host the coverage, and joining Lampard and Seedorf for punditry duties are former Chelsea and Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge, ex-Arsenal and Manchester City defender Gael Clichy, two-time winner of the women’s competition Laura Georges, and Josie Henning, a runner-up with PSG in 2015.

Alan Shearer and Jon Champion will team up to provide commentary, and Amazon Prime have also recruited former Premier League official Mark Clattenburg as their referee analyst.

The streaming giant will broadcast the top Tuesday match each week starting from the play-off round through to the semi-finals in May.

Lampard admitted in June that he had received several offers since his second spell at Chelsea came to an end, but none felt right.

Having endured a difficult managerial career, it’s not out of the realms of possibility that the 46-year-old’s long-term future lies in broadcasting – although he was recently tipped to become the next full-time England boss.
