Wayne Rooney will return to Old Trafford on September 7 after being included in Manchester United legends against Celtic.
The Red Devils released the list of former players who will be a part of their legends squad that will take on Celtic legends in a charity game on September 7.
However,the Plymouth Argyle boss finds his name among a host of other yesteryear icons namely Michael Carrick, Darren Fletcher, Antonio Valencia, Dimitar Berbatov, Nicky Butt, and Paul Scholes.
Also, the team will be managed by Bryan Robson.
A similar legends match was organised by the Manchester United Foundation in 2022 against Liverpool which raised £1.3 million (€1.5m/$1.3m).
From the clash against Celtic, the club once again aim to support the Foundation’s work with the kids in the Greater Manchester area and beyond.
Rooney joined Plymouth as their manager in May 2024.
However, his journey with the Championship side has got off to an underwhelming start.
After losing the season opener against Sheffield Wednesday 4-0, they managed a 1-1 draw in their second Championship game against Hull City.

However, after a winning start to their new season against Fulham last week, United will be back in action this Saturday as they take on Brighton in the Premier League.
