Nollywood actress Biodun Okeowo has strongly criticised some of her colleagues in the Yoruba movie industry for what she described as an insensitive rush to publicise the death of actress Allwell Ademola on social media.

Taking to her Instagram page, Okeowo expressed displeasure that news of Allwell’s passing was allegedly shared online before the deceased’s mother was formally informed.

She describes the act as deeply unfair and lacking compassion.

According to the actress, many people within the industry are quick to post “RIP” messages and share images whenever tragedy strikes, but often fail to exercise empathy or consider the emotional impact on close family members.

Those of you who are so quick to post bad news and put up pictures, hope you know she has a mother who is not aware yet,” Okeowo wrote.

She further lamented that celebratory and congratulatory news rarely receives the same urgency or visibility as tragic updates.

Also, she questioned why death announcements seem to trend faster than achievements or joyful milestones.

Biodun’s reaction came shortly after reports emerged that Allwell Ademola, a well-known Yoruba actress, had died suddenly at the age of 49.

According to initial reports, the actress reportedly passed away after suffering a heart attack.

The development has sparked conversations across social media.
