50 Cent Backs Drake In Legal Battle Against Universal Music Group

50 Cent has voiced his support for Drake amid the Canadian superstar’s legal petition against Universal Music Group (UMG).

In a recent podcast appearance, the rapper and entrepreneur expressed his belief in the validity of Drake’s claims, particularly those outlined in his lawsuit against the music conglomerate.

“Everything he said they did in that lawsuit, they did it,” 50 Cent said, drawing parallels to his own experience with UMG subsidiary Interscope Records during his time with G-Unit.

He compared his past struggles with the label’s approach to marketing, referring to the conflict over the G-Unit and G-Unot brands, noting the impersonal nature of their business practices.

Drake’s lawsuit against UMG, filed in November, consists of two major claims. The first accuses the company of using illegal methods, such as bots and payola, to artificially boost Kendrick Lamar’s streams for the song “Not Like Us.”

The second pertains to the distribution of the record despite false accusations levied against Drake, including allegations of pedophilia.

50 Cent also addressed the personal dynamics of the situation, suggesting that Drake’s legal actions might be aimed at preventing Lamar from performing the controversial track at Super Bowl LIX in February 2025.

He added that Drake’s lashing out against various figures in the industry echoed his own past experiences, describing the situation as deeply personal for the “God’s Plan” hitmaker.
