5 Key Executive Orders Signed By Donald Trump

On his first day back in the Oval Office, President Donald Trump wasted no time implementing his agenda.

He signed a series of high-profile executive orders that promise to reshape key aspects of U.S. policy.

5 Key Executive Orders Signed By Donald Trump

These measures reflect his commitment to fulfilling campaign promises and addressing issues he described as critical to “restoring America’s greatness.”

Here are  five major executive orders Trump signed

1. Withdrawal Trom Paris Climate Agreement

President Trump reasserted his stance on climate policy by signing an executive order to withdraw the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement.

However, Trump argued that the accord places an unfair burden on American industries and jobs while benefiting competitors like China and India.

Also, he emphasised the need for energy independence and economic growth over what he described as “globalist climate agendas”.

2. Ending Birthright Citizenship For Children Of Undocumented Immigrants

One of Trump’s most controversial executive orders seeks to end birthright citizenship for children born in the U.S. to undocumented parents.

This move is expected to face significant legal challenges, as birthright citizenship is enshrined in the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

Also, Trump defended the order as a necessary step to deter illegal immigration and uphold the integrity of U.S. citizenship.

3. Mass Pardons for January 6 Capitol Rioters

In a polarising decision, Donald Trump pardoned over 1,500 individuals charged in connection with the January 6, 2021, Capitol riots.

Also, this included commuting the sentences of those already convicted.

Donald Trump described the pardons as an act of justice for people he claimed were “unfairly targeted” for their political beliefs.

Critics, however, view this as undermining the rule of law and accountability.

4. Declaring A National Emergency On The Southern Border

In a move aimed at tackling illegal immigration, Trump declared a national emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border.

He also designated criminal cartels operating in the region as terrorist organisations, granting federal agencies expanded powers to combat cross-border crime.

Trump stated this action would prioritise American safety and reinforce border security, a key focus of his previous administration.

5. Delaying The TikTok Ban

Additionally, he delayed the controversial ban on TikTok for 75 days.

He citied the need for further review of its potential national security risks.
