Ever since the Independent National Electoral Commission announced that Bola Ahmed Tinubu won the presidential election in Nigeria opposition political parties have continued to reject the result.
Tinubu was declared president-elect in the early hours of Wednesday.
The electoral body announced that he polled 8,794,726 votes, beating Atiku and Obi, who received 6,984,520 and 6,101 votes, respectively.
Oppositions claimed that the poll was rigged. But INEC chairman declared Tinubu the winner of the presidential election.
Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, and Peter Obi, the candidate for the Labour Party, say they will not accept the result.
They insist on going to court to reclaim their mandate in court.
In his acceptance speech after being named the winner of the election on Wednesday, Bola Tinubu requested the two candidates to join him in the effort to improve the country, but the gesture of reconciliation was rejected by the two contenders.
Breaking the silence 24 hours after Tinubu was declared the winner of the hotly contested polls, Peter Obi insisted that he had won the election, and he was ready to prove it.
Furthermore, he gave his reasons for refusing to accept the result of the election.
Obi’s Reasons For Refusal
1. Standard Of The Election
“This election did not meet the minimum standard expected of a free, fair, transparent and credible election.
“It will go down as one of the most controversial elections ever conducted in Nigeria.
2. Nigerians Were Robbed
“The good and hardworking people of Nigeria have again been robbed by our supposed leaders whom they trusted.
“I believe that if you must answer ‘Your Excellency,’ the process through which you arrive at the office must be excellent.

“On this issue I am challenging the process. I will challenge this rascality for the future of the country.
Going To Court
“The court exists for this and they have asked me to go to court and I will be going to court,” the former governor assured his supporters.
“Datti (his running mate) and I remain absolutely undaunted and deeply committed to the project of a new Nigeria that will be built on honesty, transparency, fairness, justice, and equity.
“All the above starts with the process.”
He added: “We have to go through this darkness. The structure of criminality can’t go out overnight.
“All we need to show is commitment and resilience.
“I will be at the forefront and will work through this darkness until daybreak”.
