Tensions are rising within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State as party leaders push back against a reported move by Governor Bala Mohammed to defect to their ranks.

APC Rejects Bala Mohammed’s Planned Defection, See Why

According to insiders, the governor’s planned switch comes after a series of high-level engagements with President Bola Tinubu and other influential APC figures.

These discussions were said to include proposals around political alignment and possible power-sharing arrangements.

Despite these developments, resistance within the Bauchi APC has been firm.

Key stakeholders and members of the state caucus have collectively rejected the idea of welcoming the governor into the party.

Their stance was made public by Samaila Dahuwa following a strategic meeting held in Abuja.

Party leaders argue that admitting Mohammed could destabilise the APC’s structure in the state.

Trust And Loyalty

They expressed concerns that his past criticisms of both the party and the president—statements they say remain unaddressed—raise questions about trust and loyalty.

Beyond ideological differences, the caucus also criticized what it described as a lack of consultation. Members say such a major political decision should involve broader stakeholder engagement, warning that sidelining party structures undermines internal democracy.

The group has resolved to formally communicate its objections to the party’s national leadership, insisting that due process must be followed and existing frameworks respected.
