End Of Long Queues

Now, the National Pension Commission (PenCom) is changing that.

It has launched a self-service online platform that allows Retirement Savings Account (RSA) holders to update their personal and biometric data from home.

Secure Digital Updates On Pension

Additionally, the Data Recapture Self-Service Platform was developed by PenCom in collaboration with the Pension Fund Operators Association of Nigeria and licensed PFAs.

Through this secure portal, users can update biodata, submit digital signatures, and complete live facial verification remotely.

PenCom says the platform strengthens pension administration, improves service delivery, and ensures accurate, up-to-date records for all RSA holders.

Furthermore, it mainly targets contributors who joined the Contributory Pension Scheme before July 1, 2019 and have not yet completed the mandatory data recapture exercise.

Access begins on February 1, 2026 via PenCom’s portal.

Faster, Safer Pensions

PenCom first launched the data recapture process in August 2019 using the Enhanced Contributor Registration System linked to the National Identity Management Commission.

Last year, the Commission required all RSA holders to provide Bank Verification Numbers to reduce fraud and align pensions with Nigeria’s financial system.

Moreover, to complete the update, users need an internet-enabled device, a valid email, identification documents, and a working camera for live biometric verification.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s pension sector continues to grow.

Ultimately, over 10 million Nigerians hold RSAs, total assets have reached ₦18.36 trillion, and more than 552,000 retirees receive monthly pensions, while 844,000 have accessed lump-sum or monthly benefits.

By launching this platform, PenCom actively simplifies pension updates, speeds up processes, and improves retirement access for millions of Nigerians.
