Meanwhile, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo is going for a ₦655.2 billion budget, prioritising infrastructure and agriculture.
On Tuesday, Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State presented the 2025 Appropriation Bill, proposing a budget of ₦605.8 billion.
He described it as the “Budget of Renewed Hope for a Rising Edo,” marking a 25% increase from the previous year.
The budget aims at fulfilling his five-point agenda, with 37% allocated to recurrent expenditure (₦223 billion) and 63% to capital expenditure (₦381 billion).
Key allocations include ₦162 billion for road development, ₦48 billion for education, and ₦63.9 billion for health.
The Health Insurance Scheme will receive ₦1.8 billion, and agriculture will be allocated ₦4.5 billion.

After presenting the proposal, Speaker of the Edo Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku, assured Okpebholo that the House would fully support the state’s objectives.
Meanwhile, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State also presented his 2025 budget, totalling ₦655.2 billion— a significant increase from the ₦395.3 billion budget for 2024.
He referred to the budget as the “Budget of Recovery,” aimed at addressing socio-economic challenges and fostering prosperity.
Aiyedatiwa allocated ₦248.9 billion (38%) for recurrent expenditure and ₦406.3 billion (62%) for capital expenditure.
He earmarked ₦238.6 billion for infrastructure, ₦125.5 billion for public finance, and ₦77 billion for education.
Other sectors, including agriculture, health, and justice, also received substantial funding.
Both governors have outlined ambitious plans to enhance infrastructure, welfare, and economic growth in their states.
