The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two women, Ujunwa Una and Chinelo Igbechionwu, for conspiring to sell newborn twin girls.
The suspects were intercepted by patrol officers from the Ojodu Division at the Berger bus-stop, a major entry point into Lagos, following a tip-off from a concerned citizen.
Furthermore, the women were found in possession of the six-day-old infants while traveling from Abia State on September 9, 2024.
However, during questioning, the suspects admitted they were paid ₦150,000 to transport the babies to Lagos, where they intended to hand them over to a nurse, as arranged by the babies’ mother.
The mother allegedly sold the twins because she could not provide for them.
