Oscar and Grammy-winning superstar Will Smith will make a highly anticipated return to the stage this Sunday, June 30, 2024, at the 2024 BET Awards.
He is set to premiere a brand-new solo song, marking his first solo material release in over five years.
The announcement, made by BET, confirms Smith’s live performance during the awards show hosted by Taraji P. Henson.
Connie Orlando, EVP Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy at BET, expressed excitement about Smith’s return, calling him a global icon and highlighting his diverse career from rapper to Hollywood star.
Smith’s performance joins a star-studded lineup at the BET Awards, featuring Ice Spice, Tyla, Victoria Monét, GloRilla, Latto, Muni Long, Sexyy Red, Shaboozey, Ms. Lauryn Hill performing with YG Marley, and Tanner Adell on the BET Amplified stage.
While details about Smith’s new song remain undisclosed, it will mark his first major release since 2005’s album “Lost and Found.”
Since then, he has only released a few musical collaborations, including tracks with Bad Bunny, Marc Anthony, and Joyner Lucas.
Smith’s last live performance was a surprise cameo at Coachella 2024, where he joined J Balvin on stage to revive his “Men in Black” persona and perform the iconic title hit from the 1997 soundtrack and his debut album “Big Willie Style.”
