If you know President Muhammadu Buhari very well, you surely would remember that he often makes statement about the aftermaths of a presidential election results.
He had before he took over office used an idiomatic expression that became a talk of the town.
“If what happened in 2011 (alleged rigging) should again happen in 2015, by the grace of God, the dog and the baboon would all be soaked in blood”.
People dragged the president for such statement, until his party said it was idiomatic.
There is another presidential election coming up on Saturday, February 25 and the President is again telling Nigerians how to take the result.
No Riots Or Acts Of Violence
In a statement released on Twitter, he made a demand from Nigerians.
“There should be no riots or acts of violence after the announcement of the election results.
“All grievances, personal or institutional, should be channeled to the relevant Courts,” he advised.

Also, President Buhari reminded Nigerians, not for the first time, that, “this is the only country we have”.
He wants them to do everything to keep it safe, united and peaceful
Law Over Political Expediency
According to him, his government has worked so hard to ensure that it would pass on a legacy of free, fair, credible, safe, and peaceful elections.
“We will continue to act with neutrality and allow the rule of law to take precedence over political expediency.
“Saturday February 25, 2023, will make it exactly one year since I assented to the Electoral Act 2022, one of the most important legacies of our administration.”
The President described that Act as a significant contribution of his administration’s vision of improving the quality of Nigeria’s electoral process.
This demand from the president is coming at a time that the polity is under tough circumstances.
Rising cost of living, scarcity of petrol and Naira notes are pushing people to the brink of grievance. Will they be able to keep it under after the election?
Unfortunately, these harsh conditions are brewing anger and grief in the minds of many Nigerians.
However, they are hoping to change the trajectory.
They are looking to pick a leader that would bring genuine change in the system and in the lives of many Nigerians.
