West Ham United have announced the departure of manager Julen Lopetegui, following a disappointing run of results in the Premier League.
The decision comes after the team’s 4-1 defeat to Manchester City, which proved to be the final straw for the Spanish head coach.
Under Lopetegui’s leadership, West Ham United have been woeful in the Premier League, currently sitting 14th in the table.
With only six wins from 20 league games, the team’s performance has fallen short of the club’s aspirations, and it was only a matter of time before the manager was booted out.
As the search for Lopetegui’s replacement begins, former Chelsea boss Graham Potter has emerged as the frontrunner for the position.
Potter has been in talks with West Ham United and is expected to be named as Lopetegui’s successor. Potter has been out of work since leaving Chelsea in April 2023, following a successful stint at Brighton.
