Once more, tragedy has befallen Nollywood with the passing of veteran actor Amaechi Muonagor.
Renowned for his comedic roles, Muonagor succumbed to a prolonged struggle with kidney disease, diabetes, and stroke.
Recently, he had appealed to Nigerians for financial aid to undergo a kidney transplant in India.
The heartbreaking news of Muonagor’s demise surfaced on the evening of Sunday, March 24, 2024.
This comes just a week after a viral video depicted the 61-year-old actor lying motionless in bed, soliciting funds for his transplant.
Beside the Nollywood icon sat fellow actor Kingsley Orji, who implored Nigerians for assistance on his behalf.
Orji disclosed that Muonagor’s had been discharged against medical advice from the hospital due to financial constraints.
Earlier, Orji had revealed Muonagor’s battles with diabetes and stroke, the latter resulting in leg paralysis.
Muonagor had been undergoing dialysis and physiotherapy, among other treatments.
His passing adds to the list of Nollywood veterans who have departed this month, notably including John ‘Mr Ibu’ Okafor, who succumbed to the cold hands of death on March 2 after a prolonged illness battle with diabetes and the loss of his leg by amputation.
