Social Media critic, Martins Otse, widely recognised as VeryDarkMan, has issued an apology to the Nigeria Police Force for wearing a police uniform in one of his recent videos.
The police had previously condemned his unauthorised use of attire resembling an official uniform and launched an investigation in response.

In the video, VeryDarkMan appears dressed as a police officer.
Also, he humorously introduced himself as a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) from the “Online Division”.
The skit, however, quickly drew backlash, with critics accusing him of misrepresenting law enforcement.
Following the criticism, VeryDarkMan released a statement on Thursday.
He expresses his regret for wearing an outfit similar to the police uniform and clarifying his intentions.
After being questioned at the police station regarding the post, VeryDarkMan explained that he meant no harm nor intended to impersonate the police.
“I didn’t intend to impersonate the police in any way, and I tender my unreserved apologies to the Nigeria Police Force and the office of the Inspector General of Police,” he said.
He went on to advise the public to seek proper authorisation before using clothing resembling official uniforms.

“It’s important to have full approval before using anything that could be seen as impersonation,” he added.
Whether the police will press charges for not obtain permission before using its outfit, no one knows yet.
