Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has promised the Flamingos a N3 million cash reward for winning bronze at the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
On Sunday, Nigeria defeated Germany 3-2 on penalties after a 3-3 tie in regulation time in the Indian city of Mumbai.
Musa, via his official Twitter handle, stated that he will reward the team with N3m for their historic feat on Sunday.
Last month, he announced the opening of an ultra-modern school named after his parents in Jos
Sunday’s victory for Nigeria made them the second African side to have achieved the feat. Ghana clinched the bronze medal at the 2012 edition of the tournament.
The Flamingos started the game on a high note, scoring three goals before Germany came from behind to draw the game.
Opeyemi Ajakaye got the first goal in the 20th minute followed by Aminat Bello who scored the second in the 48th minute. Etim Edidiong netted the third goal in the 63rd minute before Germany replied with three goals to send the match to extra time and penalties.
