‘The Shining’ Actor Shelley Duvall Dies Aged 75

Shelley Duvall, the talented actor known for her iconic roles in “The Shining” and her long-term collaboration with director Robert Altman, passed away on Thursday at the age of 75.

According to her partner Dan Gilroy, Duvall died in her sleep at her home in Blanco, Texas, due to complications from diabetes.

Born on July 7, 1949, in Fort Worth, Texas, Duvall was discovered by Altman in the 1970s and went on to become a frequent collaborator, starring in several of his films, including “Brewster McCloud” (1970), “Nashville” (1975), and “3 Women” (1977), for which she won the Best Actress award at Cannes.

Duvall’s career was marked by her versatility and range, portraying eccentric and memorable characters that earned her numerous awards and nominations.

She praised Altman for offering her “damn good roles” and appreciated his trust and respect for her as an actor.
