It was a normal weekend in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial hub.
As usual, one could notice the agile crowd engaging in their busy activities even as the cold harmattan romances their body.
However, for Mary, a Calabar beauty, who is just landing the busy city for the first time in search of greener pastures, it was not just the crowd that got her attention.
The tall giant buildings and the many overhead bridges left her staring through the window of the old Sienna bus she boarded for hours.
The night desended sharply and in no time, the bus stopped at a park in the popular Jibowu.
“Na the last bus stop be dis”, the driver screamed as the passengers started coming out of the car one after the other.
Mary came down from the bus and did as her aunty instructed.
“Look for a secure place and wait for me,” that was what her aunty told her.
However, what rang in her head continuously was, “Shine your eyes well well”, an advise she received from her close friend who had once in her lifetime experienced Lagos.
Her aunt came and at last, they were home.
Seconds turned minutes, minutes, hours, hours, days, and days, weeks.
Mary was a quick learner hence, it wasn’t long before she got familiar with the atmosphere.
But then, something strange happened one day.
Content Creation
You see, Mary had found out that TikTok, a social media platform had become an avenue of making money for many.
With a speed like that of lightning, she signed up and before anyone knew what was happening, she was part of the “Tap your screen” family.
However, she was still new in Lagos, and believe you me, she had no idea of how deep content creation is, and this was exactly what her aunty would help her understand.
While content creation has saved many from poverty, it has also encouraged so many ills.
The level of crime carried out under the guise of content creation is out of this world.

A trending video of a moment some young boys, believed to be ritualists parked their car in the middle of the road, brought out an unconscious young lady, dropped her, and zoomed off, is no longer new.
The funny part is that, while all this went on, onlookers only thought it was content.
It was when they realized that the girl was only a dead body, that was when it became clear that it was beyond content.
The new trend of hook-up wouldn’t have been this popular, but all thanks to content creation, young girls want to get all that they see on social media.
Guess where that leaves many of them.
