Drug addict stabs father, mother to death in Lagos

A 23-year-old man, Michael Okhide, has fled home after he allegedly stabbed his father and mother to dead in their apartment in Ejigbo area of Lagos, Wednesday.

Doctors are still battling to save his younger sister, Mary, who was not spared in the attack. Mary , as gathered had her intestines shot out as a result of the knife stab in her stomach.

The victims were found in the pool of their blood , by policemen from Ejigbo division led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Olabisi Okuwobi, who stormed the scene when information reached them.

Though the exact cause for the fleeing suspect’s action could not be immediately ascertained as Police said investigation was still ongoing.

But residents said that it could not have been unconnected with Michael’s demand for money to buy illicit drugs. Describing him as a drug addict, a family member who spoke to Vanguard on the condition of anonymity, said, ” he has been a thorn in the family’s flesh. He has done his worst. It is unfortunate that my brother and his wife paid the price of trying to ensure their son turned new leaf, with their lives.. This is sacrilege! It has never happened in our family”.

The bodies were evacuated by the Police to the Isolo General Hospital Mortuary. Late Mrs Toyin Okhide, worked as a matron at the hospital.
