You may have heard of the thin line between love and hate, well, in Nigeria, what we recently witnessed was a thin line between the rich and the poor.

A poor police officer was assigned to the house of the Okoya’s, perhaps, they paid for the services, we can’t say for sure, but what we are sure of is, that officer is now in serious trouble.

The Okoya's Naira Abuse Saga: A Thin Line Between The Rice And The Poor

On that fateful day, Raheem and his brother, Wahab Okoya, sons of Lagos businessman, Chief Rasaq Okoya, decided to party in the city.

“Escort us make we go faji,” they told the officer.

The policeman obeyed and off they went, after all, he who pays the piper detects the tune.

Upon arrival at the event, the policeman was given bundles of cash to hold for the big boys.

As they enjoyed the moment, they decided to record for their friends.

That was when this fresh episode of drama started.

The Video

In the video, the policeman is seen holding bundles of cash as the brothers dance and toss the naira notes into the air.

Ofcourse, someone would have to bear the blame for this abuse of Nigeria’s currency, sadly, it can’t be the children of the wealthy businessman. Such a thing cannot happen in Nigeria, here, the rich seems to be above the law.

“Arrest that officer,” the police oga screamed, and before anyone could know what was going on, the policeman was already in detention.

“What about Chief Okoya’s sons?,” Nigerians roared.

However, as we speak, none has been arrested or even invited to the station.

The Thin Line

Imagine how insulted many Nigerians felt when Raheem, one of Okoya’s sons made of video of himself and apologised to Nigerians and claiming ignorance.

In the video, Raheem is seen at home, not a station, meaning the sons of Okoya, who happens to be the main culprits, are still walking free.

As we speak, the internet space is on fire.

Furthermore, the police has once again made itself an enemy of the people, and trust Nigerians, they are always ready to drag any individual or organisation that fails to do the right thing.

Meanwhile, Nigerians are keeping taps on the issue. For now, all eyes are on the police.
