Music star Tems has canceled her planned concert in Kigali, Rwanda, following the rising tensions between Rwanda and South Africa over the crisis in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The Grammy-winning singer announced the cancellation on January 30 through a post on her X account.
She explained that she was unaware of the ongoing conflict when promoting the show and apologized if her decision to perform in Rwanda seemed insensitive.
Tems also expressed her concern for those affected by the crisis.
The Kigali concert was part of her world tour for her debut album, Born In The Wild, which has seen her perform to sold-out crowds in different cities.

Tensions between Rwanda and South Africa have been growing due to South Africa’s support for the DRC government against the M23 rebel group, which is reportedly backed by Rwanda.
The political situation has led to strained relations between the two countries, with South Africa recalling its diplomats from Rwanda earlier this week.
