Inter Miami star Luis Suarez reportedly helped to prevent a suicide attempt while enjoying a MLS post-season break with wife Sofia Balbi.
The veteran Uruguayan striker has been back in his homeland ahead of reporting for pre-season training duty in Florida – with the 37-year-old frontman having agreed a 12-month extension to his contract alongside Lionel Messi at Chase Stadium.
During his time in Ciudad de la Costa, Suarez is said to have joined efforts to coax a man down from a tree who was threatening to hang himself if his partner did not show up.
However, discussions with the 29-year-old lasted 20 hours.
According to DirecTV Sports, Suarez delivered an “emphatic talk” that helped to lure the man in question down from a six-metre high tree.
His presence was most welcome as the person was located in a dune that made access difficult for the National Navy’s rescue efforts.

Suarez and his partner Balbi had been out for a walk on the Solymar promenade close to where they are staying in Uruguay.
The Specialised Domestic Violence Unit of the Ministry of Interior took charge to provide care and a professional evaluation once the man had been talked out of taking his own life.
