The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has selected 11 stadiums including the home grounds of Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atletico Madrid as potential venues for the 2030 World Cup.
Other LaLiga clubs whose stadiums are on the list include Sevilla, Malaga, Real Sociedad, Athletic Bilbao, Las Palmas, and newly promoted Espanyol.
Spain, which will co-host the tournament with Portugal, Morocco, Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay, will also provide 45 additional grounds as team bases, the RFEF announced.
“In order to define the venues, all possibilities have been analyzed, including the option of expanding to 13, an option that must be taken unanimously by the three federations,” the RFEF stated. The tournament will have a maximum of 20 venues, the RFEF added.
Co-hosts Morocco announced plans last year to build a stadium near Casablanca and upgrade six others before the World Cup.
