Jigawa local government chairman stated that hawking is now prohibited in market areas between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m
Hadejia local government council in Jigawa State has prohibited young boys and girls from hawking at night.
This was stated in a press release signed by the media aide to the local government Chairman, Salisu Sogi Hadejia.
He stated that hawkers have been prohibited from entering and wandering markets in the area between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Salisu stated that, the new regulation is part of the council’s efforts to stamp out suspected immorality in the area.
Immorality such as sexual interactions between hawkers and others in the markets, he added.
Bala AbdulKadir, encouraged parents and guardians of young persons selling in the market to supplement the government’s efforts.
He said they can accomplish this by assuring the moral upbringing of their children.
He cautioned that individuals who break the law would face harsh penalties.
