Seun Kuti: “My Fight Is With Colonialism, Not European People”

Nigerian musician and activist, Seun Kuti, is an outspoken person, but some of his opinions do not align properly with some persons. Now he is clarifying his stance on European colonialism.

Also, he emphasises that his critique is directed at the system of colonialism and imperialism, not the European people themselves.

In a recent Instagram post, Seun Kuti, who is widely known for his outspoken views on imperialism and corruption, highlighted the importance of creating a just and equitable world.

He stressed that his opposition to colonialism should not be misinterpreted as hatred or animosity toward Europeans.

I’m against European colonisation and imperialism, but that does not mean I’m against European people,” he wrote.

Many Europeans have been our allies in the fight against greed and unfair systems, working alongside us to make the world a fairer place for everyone.”

Furthermore, Seun Kuti acknowledged the contributions of Europeans who have stood in solidarity with oppressed people around the world.

Being against colonisation does not mean being against Europeans. Many have stood with us in the fight for justice and fairness,” he added.

As the son of the legendary Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Kuti, Seun has continued his father’s legacy. He uses music as a tool for activism.
