23 Time Grand slam winner, Serena Jameka Williams extended her US Open farewell with a dominant opening day win
Serena Williams won her first-round match 6-3, 6-3 over Danka Kovinic at the US Open on Monday night.
The sports icon who is retiring after the tournament, became only the fourth woman in the Open Era to win matches in her teens, 20s, 30s and 40s
Since Williams announced her impending plans to retire from tennis in a first-person essay in Vogue earlier this month, she has been given a farewell tour of sorts, and received standing ovations.
“You know, I always just got to do the best that I can,” Williams said to the crowd after the match. “I feel so comfortable on this court, in front of everyone here.

40-year-old, Williams will play Estonian second seed Anett Kontaveit in the second round on Wednesday who won 6-3, 6-0 winner over Jaqueline Adina Cristian of Romania in the first round.
