A former aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, says President Bola Tinubu’s ministerial list will be announced today, Tuesday.

You see, that list is highly anticipated by Nigerians who are very eager to know those the president will select to join him in piloting the affairs of the nation.

By law, Tinubu has till July 28 to send his ministerial nominees to the Senate for screening and confirmation. It appears that list is now with the Senate and awaiting deliberation.

The 60-day Window

Going by an amendment to the constitution by the last parliament, it now stipulates that the president and governors have, from the date they are sworn in, a 60-day window within which to appoint ministers and commissioners.

Section 42 of the constitution states that “(a) the nomination of any person to the office of a Minister for confirmation by the Senate shall be done within sixty days after the date the President has taken the oath of office;

“(b) not less than ten per cent of persons appointed as Ministers shall be women:

Provided that the President may appoint a Minister at any other time during his tenure and such appointment shall be subject to confirmation by the Senate.”

The president was sworn into office on May 29.

Last-minute Change

Since that day, the country has faced with numerous challenges, some of which people say could bring the needed change.

Sadly, these change had come with tough experiences, with nothing to cushion its effect coming from the government.

The current state of the country, according to some people, is a clear proof that President Tinubu is not capable to handling a country as Nigeria.

This category of people wait in anxiety for the president to unveil his ministers which they believe may be able to join forces with Tinubu to salvage the country.

Speaking on the ministerial list. Ahmad disclosed that all things being equal, the Senate would announce Tinubu’s list today.

The former presidential aide stated this via Twitter on Monday evening.
