Popular Nigerian broadcast journalist, media personality, and TV host Kayode Akintemi has been announced as the Managing Director of pan-African station News Central TV.
Award-winning broadcaster and ICT consultant Akintemi has worked for several years as an executive director at Arise TV, managing director and chief editor of Plus TV Africa, and general manager of Channels TV.
Based in Lagos, Nigeria, News Central is a pan-African television network available on DStv CH 422, StarTimes 274, and other web platforms.
Kayode Akintemi Takes A Leap Forward
Akintemi is anticipated to lead the station’s next phase of growth and innovation by creating programming and setting strategic direction.
With a clear aim in mind, he is ready to raise the standard of his reporting, pique the interest of his audience, and expand his online presence.
Expressing his enthusiasm for this new role, Akintemi said: “I am honoured to join the News Central team.
“I look forward to working closely with our dedicated journalists and staff to deliver news and contents that inform, engage, and empower our audience.
“Strategically improve the calibre of content and programming with a keen focus on the Nigerian landscape and Africa at large”.
However, one of the key focuses of the news platform, according to the new managing director and editor-in-chief, is for the station to be heavy on developmental and investigative journalism!
“We intend to create a level of enlightenment that speaks truth to power at all times and raise awareness about issues of socio-economic development to bring about positive changes in Africa.”
Kayode’s Background
Also, Kayode thanked the board for entrusting him with such onerous responsibility, adding that his new role will help him crystallise some of his best ideas into shape.
Kayode Akintemi, who hails from Ogun State, Nigeria, was born on June 26, 1965. He attended the Federal Government College in Kano.
He studied mass communication and majored in broadcast journalism and production at the Ogun State Polytechnic, now Moshood Abiola Polytechnic.
The journalist also received a postgraduate diploma in information technology.
Akintemi hosted special interviews on BEN Television London and Sky Channel 184 for several years before returning to Nigeria to join Channels Television.
He joined Channels Television in March 2011 as the general manager in charge of operations and was responsible for the core broadcast operations of the station.
The Genesis Of His Career
Akintemi started his broadcasting career as a presenter of “Teen and Twenty Beats” with Radio Nigeria-2 AM/FM in Lagos, Nigeria, in the 1980s.
Between 1987 and 1993, he worked with Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation (OGBC), Nigeria.
He was a lecturer of radio and TV programme production at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in Zaria.
Also, he managed the Ogun State Television (OGTV) corps of presenters and newsreaders as Head of Presentation, presenting, producing, and directing numerous television programmes.

However, he is a member of the Radio Academy, London; a member of the Royal Television Society in the United Kingdom.
A senior member of the Society of Information Technology Managers (SOCITM) in the UK; a member of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
Also, he is a member of the Institute of Directors (IOD), London, for many years.
However, Kayode has a passion for mentoring, training, and development.
Also, he has spent time acquiring knowledge on leadership and corporate governance from Harvard University in Boston, amongst other institutions.
