Now, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) says the fuel scarcity in Lagos and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is due to poor discharge operations of several vessels.

In a statement posted on X, the spokesman for the NNPCL, Olufemi Soneye, said that these operational disruptions have significantly affected fuel supply and distribution in these regions.
“NNPCL is working diligently with all relevant stakeholders to resolve the issues and restore normal fuel supply as swiftly as possible.” It stated

Furthermore, the statement clarified that the fuel supply tightness in Lagos and the FCT is due to operational hitches with a few vessels.

Many Lagosians are enduring long waits at fuel stations, with some spending almost an entire day just to purchase fuel.
