With the kind of things happening in learning institutions these days, many parents may soon resort to home schooling.
Increasingly, children are exposed to danger of various kinds outside their homes. One of which is rape.
The Ogun State Police Command, on Wednesday, said it has arrested a 40-year-old secondary school teacher, Olaniran Adewale, for allegedly sexually assaulting innocent girls.
The spokesperson for the state police command, SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed this to reporters.
Olaniran, until his arrest was a Mathematics teacher at Ebenezer Grammar School, Iberekodo, Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.
The teacher is a native of the Ipokia Local Government Area of the state.
Rape Report
Furthermore, Odutola gave more information about the alleged rape.
“On the 4th of November 2023, a case of suspected rape was reported by a Director in the Ministry of Women Affairs, Mrs Kazeem Wonuola.
“She reported that one Lateef Olaniran, aged 40, of number 50, Ifelodun Street, Obantoko, Abeokuta and a teacher with Ebenezer Grammar School, Iberekodo, Abeokuta, was in the habit of luring innocent girls into his house after which he would rape them.
“Can you also imagine that the very day the police went after the suspect, he was met allegedly perpetrating the same evil and it took the interventions of the police to rescue his victim?”
When interrogated, the accused teacher said he had been separated from his wife for five years and that he had been lonely ever since moving to Abeokuta.
Olaniran said the loneliness pushed him to have forceful sex with his victims.

The Ogun State Command Headquarters encouraged anyone with useful information about Mr Adewale (the accused) to forward same to the police.
Also, he emphasised the need for rape victims to always report to the ministry.
