Waldrum explained that the past few weeks have been challenging, saying: “It’s been a very difficult few weeks following the Olympics, with my wife’s health issues, and the worries that obviously come with that.”

After careful consideration, Waldrum decided to step down, stating: “I am hereby resigning my position as Head Coach of the Super Falcons.

This will allow the NFF ample time to find the next manager to take over this incredible squad.”

During his tenure, Waldrum guided the team to the semi-finals of the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

He also led the team to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, where they impressed fans before being narrowly eliminated by England on penalties in the round of 16.
