As part of its preparations for the forthcoming Edo and Ondo State governorship elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Wednesday, held a crucial meeting with heads of security agencies.
After that meeting, came a terse statement issued via the commission’s official X handle.
The commission said the meeting was to strategise and plan for the forthcoming governorship elections as well as bye-elections in some constituencies.

“Hon. Chairman INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, with members of the Commission, held a crucial meeting with members of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) at the Commission’s conference room in Abuja.
“The focus of the meeting was to strategise and plan for the upcoming #EdoDecides2024 and #OndoDecides2024 Governorship Elections.
As well as by-elections in constituencies where vacancies have been announced across various states,” the statement reads.
