The Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has paid a condolence visit to the family of late Nollywood actor John Paul Obumneme Odonwodo, popularly known as Junior Pope.
News of junior Popes’ demise swept through the internet on April 10, 2024.
The screen idol died alongside three others after their boat capsized on the Anam River in Anambra State while returning from a film location.
One would not be far from the truth if he/she describes that day as one of the saddest days in Nigeria.
The Burial
Nigerians could not stop mourning and shifting blames, as they sort better ways to console the lovely family the young actor left behind.
Junior Pope was buried on Friday, May 17, at his hometown, Ukehe in Nsukka Local Government Area, Enugu State.
The burial was attended by Nollywood veterans from all over Nigeria and beyond.

Now, Peter Obi has visited the actor’s family to pay his last respect.
Obi was accompanied by Kenneth Okonkwo, a Nollywood actor cum politician.
Peter Obi Visits Bereaved Family
Okonkwo was the former spokesperson of the Labour Party presidential campaign council.
During the visit, Obi also signed the condolence register.
Sharing photos from the condolence visit, Okonkwo captioned on his X handle: “HE Peter Obi arrived at the residence of John Paul Odonwodo Junior Pope, to pay his condolences to his family over the sad, and untimely departure of their child, brother, husband and father.
He consoled his mother, Mrs Maria Odonwodo, the widow, Jennifer, and his children.”
