Argentina and France, will face off in the Olympic quarterfinals in Bordeaux.
This under-23 contest is highly anticipated, given the heated rivalry between the senior teams of both countries.
However, it’s important to note that this is an Olympic match, not a World Cup match.
In terms of Olympic pedigree, Argentina has won two Olympic medals (silver in 1928 and gold in 2004 and 2008) they have therefore won three Olympic medals, not two, while France has won one Olympic title (gold in 1984) and one silver medal (in 1900).
Argentina has had a rocky Olympic campaign, losing to Morocco before bouncing back with wins over Iraq and Ukraine.
France, on the other hand, has had a smooth ride, winning all three group stage matches without conceding a goal.
Argentina’s coach, Hernán Crespo, emphasized the importance of learning from past mistakes, saying, “We need to correct our errors and be more consistent.”
Meanwhile, France’s coach, Thierry Henry, advised his team not to rest on its laurels, saying “A new tournament now begins. We need to stay composed and focused.
