Paramount Pictures has released a new trailer of “Gladiator 2,” the highly anticipated sequel directed by Ridley Scott. The trailer showcases a bloody and determined Paul Mescal as Lucius, the son of Lucilla and nephew of Commodus.
Set years after the original 2000 film, Lucius finds himself in northern Africa before returning to Rome as a gladiator, where he confronts new enemies and reunites with his mother.
The trailer reveals Lucius’s true parentage as the son of Maximus Decimus Meridius, with Lucilla affirming, “Take your father’s strength. His name was Maximus. And I see him in you.”
Scott has promised that the film will include the “biggest action sequence” he has ever produced, surpassing anything seen in his recent film “Napoleon.”
Renowned for delivering some of cinema’s most spectacular scenes in classics like “Alien” and “Blade Runner,” Scott seems set to raise the bar once again.
“Gladiator 2” is set to hit theatres on November 22.
